The Power of Leafy Greens
For health, nothing beats leafy green vegetables. They are the most nutrient-dense foods available as well they provide a large amount fiber which aids in producing probiotics in your gut, phytonutrients to fight disease and chlorophyll for detoxification.
A good goal is to aim to eat one pound of leafy greens per day. Incorporating a daily green smoothie, a salad and tossing a handful of greens into entrees like a stir fry, casserole, pasta dish, or tacos/enchiladas will get you to your greens goal.
Here are some of my green smoothie takes.
BASIC GREEN SMOOTHIE
1C Parsley (curly or flat)
3C Kale or chard
1C Spinach or Bok Choy (my new fav smoothie ingredient, very mild flavor)
1C Blueberry or Strawberry or Cherry (frozen)
1 Banana
2 Dates
1C Pineapple (frozen)
½C Water or more as needed to blend
Blend until smooth.
TONIC ANTI-INFLAMMATORY SMOOTHIE4 Collard Greens or Chard leaves
½tsp Turmeric
1tsp Cinnamon
½C Parsley (1/4 of a bunch)
½C Blueberries
½C Pineapple or Acai
3 Dates
½C Water
STRAWBERRY or CHERRY SHAKE w/Green Boost
2C Frozen Strawberries or Cherries
3C Spinach
4 Dates
1 Banana
½C Water
Blend until smooth
MINT SMOOTHIE
2C Kale
3-4 Mint Leaves
1C Cilantro
2 Dates
1C Pineapple or Cherries, frozen
